* Fixed the last GCC class memory access warnings and cleaned up some stuff. Vas Crabb2025-04-211-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | * shared/exidysound.cpp: Use real 8253 PIT device rather than a local implementation, fixed class memory access error, cleaned up code to use virtual member functions idiomatically. * cpu/alto2: Fixed class memory access error (was nuking unique pointers). * interton/vc4000_v.cpp: Fixed class memory access error, got rid of indirection on bitmap, cleaned up a little. * Enabled error for GCC class memory access warning to avoid rot.
* - Removed device_timer, device_timer_id, et al in favor of direct callback ↵ MooglyGuy2022-06-041-2/+2

(#9788) Primarily, this removes device_t::device_timer, device_t::timer_set, device_t::synchronize, device_t::timer_expired, and device_timer_id. Use of device_timer often resulted in unnecessary trampolining in addition to switch/case overhead on a driver/device level, and additional logic to manage delegated vs. ID-based timers on a core level. In the worst cases, devices were performing a switch/case with only one valid case. device_scheduler::timer_set is marked deprecated as the only remaining direct uses are via the Lua engine and a few drivers that need refactoring anyway. The remaining uses occur via device_scheduler::synchronize. As a middle ground between the extremely short timer_alloc() and the extremely long machine().scheduler().timer_alloc(timer_expired_delegate(FUNC(widget_device::contoso_tick), this)), a helper function in device_t has been added which can be invoked with the following syntax: timer_alloc(FUNC(widget_device::contoso_tick), this) - * (nw) Clean up the mess on master Vas Crabb2019-03-261-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This effectively reverts b380514764cf857469bae61c11143a19f79a74c5 and c24473ddff715ecec2e258a6eb38960cf8c8e98e, restoring the state at 598cd5227223c3b04ca31f0dbc1981256d9ea3ff. Before pushing, please check that what you're about to push is sane. Check your local commit log and ensure there isn't anything out-of-place before pushing to mainline. When things like this happen, it wastes everyone's time. I really don't need this in a week when real work™ is busting my balls and I'm behind where I want to be with preparing for MAME release.

| | | | | This reverts commit c24473ddff715ecec2e258a6eb38960cf8c8e98e, reversing changes made to 009cba4fb8102102168ef32870892438327f3705.
* fix MSVC (llvm toolset) compile (nw) Peter Ferrie2019-01-061-5/+5

* Remove emu.h from headers (nw) Olivier Galibert2017-02-111-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Per Vas' request. If the compile fails for you (i'm thinking osx and windows native debuggers here in particular), add '#include "emu.h"' as first include of the cpp files that fail. Due to our use of precompilation and forced inclusion, emu.h must be included as the very first non-comment thing we do if we want to be sure msvc compiles are identical to gcc/clang ones. Doing it directly instead of through an include increases the correctness probability by a magnitude.

* alto2: remove member function pointers jbu2016-08-081-17/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | There was little to no advantage in calling the various subdevice bs, f1 and f2 early/late functions through function pointers. The original idea was to make this configurable, which it isn't. The hardware, or schematics, define the functions and they are (almost entirely) static anyway. By removing the function pointers and inlining the appropriate calls into switch/case statements there's a speed improvement of ~ 2.5x here, seen while the diablo bitclk is not running.
* alto2: replace decoded MIR bit fields jbu2016-08-031-8/+8
| | | | | | | Instead of using a number of UINT8 with the decoded bit fields of the MIR (micro instruction register), add inline functions to extract the bits from m_mir. That ought to be faster, because there are fewer memory accesses in cases where bit fields are not actually used by an instruction.
