* Turned `core_file` into an implementation of `random_read_write`.

Added more modern generic I/O interfaces with implementation backed by stdio, osd_file and core_file, replacing io_generic. Also replaced core_file's build-in zlib compression with a filter.
unzip.cpp, un7z.cpp: Added option to supply abstract I/O interface rather than filename.
Converted osd_file, core_file, archive_file, chd_file and device_image_interface to use std::error_condition rather than their own error enums.
Allow mounting TI-99 RPK from inside archives.

- Remove corestr.h from emu.h; update a few source files to not use it at all
- Change strtrimspace, strtrimrightspace and core_filename_extract_* to be pure functions taking a std::string_view by value and returning the same type
- Change strmakeupper and strmakelower to be pure functions taking a std::string_view and constructing a std::string
- Remove the string-modifying version of zippath_parent
- Change tag-based lookup functions in device_t to take std::string_view instead of const std::string & or const char *
- Remove the subdevice tag cache from device_t (since device finders are now recommended) and replace it with a map covering directly owned subdevices only
- Move the working directory setup method out of device_image_interface (only the UI seems to actually use the full version of this)
- Change output_manager to use std::string_view for output name arguments
- Change core_options to accept std::string_view for most name and value arguments (return values are still C strings for now)
- Change miscellaneous other functions to accept std::string_view arguments
- Remove a few string accessor macros from romload.h
- Remove many unnecessary c_str() calls from logging/error messages

I've guessed whether break or [[fallthrough]] is appropriate. In cases
where it looked particularly suspicious, I added a FIXME comment. All
of these changes should be reviewed by someone familiar with the code.

* There can only be one "perfect quantum" device - enforce that only the root machine can set it, as allowing subdevices to will cause weird issues with slot cards overiding it
* Allow multiple devices to set maximum quantum and use the most restrictive one (it's maximum quantum, it would be minimum interleave)
* Got rid of device_slot_card_interface as it wasn't providing value
* Added a helper template to reduce certain kinds of boilerplate in slots/buses
* Cleaned up some particularly bad slot code (plenty more of that to do), and made some slots more idiomatic

(nw) This has been a long time coming but it's here at last. It should
be easier now that logerror, popmessage and osd_printf_* behave like
string_format and stream_format. Remember the differences from printf:
* Any object with a stream out operator works with %s
* %d, %i, %o, %x, %X, etc. work out the size by magic
* No sign extending promotion to int for short/char
* No widening/narrowing conversions for characters/strings
* Same rules on all platforms, insulated from C runtime library
* No format warnings from compiler
* Assert in debug builds if number of arguments doesn't match format
(nw) Also removed a pile of redundant c_str and string_format, and some
workarounds for not being able to portably format 64-bit integers or
long long.

c24473ddff715ecec2e258a6eb38960cf8c8e98e, restoring the state at
598cd5227223c3b04ca31f0dbc1981256d9ea3ff.
Before pushing, please check that what you're about to push is sane.
Check your local commit log and ensure there isn't anything out-of-place
before pushing to mainline. When things like this happen, it wastes
everyone's time. I really don't need this in a week when real work™ is
busting my balls and I'm behind where I want to be with preparing for
MAME release.

Beware, the device context does not follow in MCFG_FRAGMENT_ADD
anymore due to the prototype change. So creating a device then
configuring through a fragment doesn't work as-is. The simplest
solution is just to add a MCFG_DEVICE_MODIFY at the start of the
fragment with the correct tag.

(nw) This is a pretty minimal change. The point where the root device is added has been moved
from the MACHINE_CONFIG_START macro to the constructor of the machine configuration class (made
possible by giving drivers their own device types). This isn't the final change in this area.
The root device is still being handled specially in that its configuration comes from the game
driver structure. This needs to be harmonised with regular devices. But that's a job for
another day.

The core changes are:
* Short name, full name and source file are no longer members of device_t, they are part of the device type
* MACHINE_COFIG_START no longer needs a driver class
* MACHINE_CONFIG_DERIVED_CLASS is no longer necessary
* Specify the state class you want in the GAME/COMP/CONS line
* The compiler will work out the base class where the driver init member is declared
* There is one static device type object per driver rather than one per machine configuration
Use DECLARE_DEVICE_TYPE or DECLARE_DEVICE_TYPE_NS to declare device type.
* DECLARE_DEVICE_TYPE forward-declares teh device type and class, and declares extern object finders.
* DECLARE_DEVICE_TYPE_NS is for devices classes in namespaces - it doesn't forward-declare the device type.
Use DEFINE_DEVICE_TYPE or DEFINE_DEVICE_TYPE_NS to define device types.
* These macros declare storage for the static data, and instantiate the device type and device finder templates.
The rest of the changes are mostly just moving stuff out of headers that shouldn't be there, renaming stuff for consistency, and scoping stuff down where appropriate.
Things I've actually messed with substantially:
* More descriptive names for a lot of devices
* Untangled the fantasy sound from the driver state, which necessitates breaking up sound/flip writes
* Changed DECO BSMT2000 ready callback into a device delegate
* Untangled Microprose 3D noise from driver state
* Used object finders for CoCo multipak, KC85 D002, and Irem sound subdevices
* Started to get TI-99 stuff out of the TI-990 directory and arrange bus devices properly
* Started to break out common parts of Samsung ARM SoC devices
* Turned some of FM, SID, SCSP DSP, EPIC12 and Voodoo cores into something resmbling C++
* Tried to make Z180 table allocation/setup a bit safer
* Converted generic keyboard/terminal to not use WRITE8 - space/offset aren't relevant
* Dynamically allocate generic terminal buffer so derived devices (e.g. teleprinter) can specify size
* Imporved encapsulation of Z80DART channels
* Refactored the SPC7110 bit table generator loop to make it more readable
* Added wrappers for SNES PPU operations so members can be made protected
* Factored out some boilerplate for YM chips with PSG
* toaplan2 gfx
* stic/intv resolution
* Video System video
* Out Run/Y-board sprite alignment
* GIC video hookup
* Amstrad CPC ROM box members
* IQ151 ROM cart region
* MSX cart IRQ callback resolution time
* SMS passthrough control devices starting subslots
I've smoke-tested several drivers, but I've probably missed something. Things I've missed will likely blow up spectacularly with failure to bind errors and the like. Let me know if there's more subtle breakage (could have happened in FM or Voodoo).
And can everyone please, please try to keep stuff clean. In particular, please stop polluting the global namespace. Keep things out of headers that don't need to be there, and use things that can be scoped down rather than macros.
It feels like an uphill battle trying to get this stuff under control while more of it's added.

The goals with this change is to make get_default_card_software() a bit more standalone by making it a const method that does not mutate the state of the device_image_interface. This is done by passing in a small structure that encapsulates the minimum of information that get_default_card_software() needs.
This also eliminates the need for device_image_interface::open_image_file()
I agree with Sarayan that get_default_card_software() is terrible and needs to ultimately go away. This is a small step in that direction.
Lastly, I don't care for the name of get_default_card_software_hook (or get_default_card_software() for that matter). If anybody has better ideas, let me know.

- Implemented emulation of the "General Purpose I/O"
port (GPIO) of GBA.
- Hooked up S-3511 RTC emulation through the GPIO
port. This allows to avoid the "Internal battery has run
dry [...] clock-based events will no longer occur"
messages in Pokémon Emerald / Ruby / Sapphire. This
also promotes Sennen Kazoku to working state.
- Hooked up Boktai Light Sensor emulation through the
GPIO port. This allows to avoid the "Solar Sensor is broken"
message in Boktai / Bokura no Taiyou, which is now
playable and to recharge your weapons in all three games
of the series. Light level has to be chosen via the "Machine
Configuration" menu, until we get some kind of camera
input.
- Hooked up Warioware Twist Gyroscope emulation
through the GPIO port. This allows to play the minigames,
even if in some case the input sensibility might need a
few tweaks.
- Hooked up Warioware Twist & Drill Dozer Rumble
emulation through the GPIO port. MAME will now output
a "Rumble" output bit (0 for Rumble=OFF and 1 for
Rumble=ON) whenever the games try to access the Rumble
component… third party applications can now listen to the
output and redirect it to some hardware that can "rumble"
in sync with the gameplay.
gba.cpp: implemented emulation of the Tilt sensor used by
Yoshi’s Universal Gravitation / Yoshi Topsy-Turvy / Yoshi no
Banyuuinryoku (and by Koro Koro Puzzle). Note that the
calibration can seem a bit tricky at first, because the emulated
screen does not turn as the GBA would... In order to properly
calibrate the sensor, just keep pressed right for a few seconds
when requested to calibrate right inclination (first calibration
screen in Yoshi Universal Gravitation) so to get the full right
range; then keep pressed for left for a few seconds when
requested to calibrate left inclination (second calibration screen
in Yoshi Universal Gravitation) so to get the full left range.
