There is a character column scroll feature that I have added. Its used to scroll in the "660" logo on the title screen at the beginning. Not sure if Samurai at al use it but it's likely their boards have the feature. Extra banking of the foreground is done using an extra register. A bit in the background video RAM selects the additional background character space. The sound board is similar. There are 3 CPU's instead of the 2 of Samurai. 2 are still used for sample-like playback (as Samurai) and the other is used to drive the AY-3-8910 (that was driven directly by the video CPU on Samurai). The memory maps are different over Samurai, probably to allow larger capacity ROMS though only the AY driver uses 27256 on Mission 660. A picture of the board I have suggests that the AY CPU could have a DAC as well but the circuit is not populated on Mission 660. There is some kind of protection. There is code in there to do the same "unknown" reads and writes as Samurai and the original M660 won't run with the Samurai value. The bootleg M660 has the protection code patched out to use a fixed value. I've used this same value on the original M660 and it seems to work.
