Crystal 15.000 MHz. Crystal An unidentified but similar Amusco PCB auctioned on eBay had an AMD P8088 filling the CPU socket. Some of the other chips on this board were replaced with clones (e.g. AMD P8253, SY6545-1). The program code reads from and writes to a 40-column line printer and a RTC (probably a MSM5832), though neither is present on the main board. The I/O write patterns also suggest that each or both of these devices are accessed through an Intel 8155 or compatible interface chip. The printer uses NCR-style control codes. ***************************************************************************************** DRIVER UPDATES: [2014-03-14] - Initial release. - Decoded graphics. - Preliminary memory map. - Added the CRTC 6845. - Added the SN76489 PSG. - Added technical notes. TODO: - Proper tile colors. - Determine PIT clocks for proper IRQ timing. - Make the 6845 transparent videoram addressing actually transparent. (IRQ1 changes the 6845 address twice but neither reads nor writes data?) - Add NVRAM in a way that won't trigger POST error message (needs NMI on shutdown?) - Identify remaining outputs from first PPI (button lamps are identified and implemented) - Draw 88 Poker fails POST memory test for some weird reason (IRQ interference?) *******************************************************************************/ #include "emu.h" #include "cpu/i86/i86.h" #include "machine/i8155.h" #include "machine/i8255.h" #include "machine/msm5832.h" #include "machine/pic8259.h" #include "machine/pit8253.h" #include "machine/ticket.h" #include "sound/sn76496.h" #include "video/mc6845.h" #include "emupal.h" #include "screen.h" #include "speaker.h" #include "tilemap.h" #include "amusco.lh" #define MASTER_CLOCK 22.1184_MHz_XTAL /* confirmed */ #define SECOND_CLOCK 15_MHz_XTAL /* confirmed */ #define CPU_CLOCK MASTER_CLOCK / 4 /* guess */ #define CRTC_CLOCK SECOND_CLOCK / 8 /* guess */ #define SND_CLOCK SECOND_CLOCK / 8 /* guess */ #define PIT_CLOCK0 SECOND_CLOCK / 8 /* guess */ #define PIT_CLOCK1 SECOND_CLOCK / 8 /* guess */ #define COIN_IMPULSE 3 class amusco_state : public driver_device { public: amusco_state(const machine_config &mconfig, device_type type, const char *tag) : driver_device(mconfig, type, tag), m_maincpu(*this, "maincpu"), m_gfxdecode(*this, "gfxdecode"), m_pit(*this, "pit8253"), m_pic(*this, "pic8259"), m_rtc(*this, "rtc"), m_crtc(*this, "crtc"), m_screen(*this, "screen"), m_hopper(*this, "hopper"), m_lamps(*this, "lamp%u", 0U) { } void amusco(machine_config &config); void draw88pkr(machine_config &config); DECLARE_WRITE_LINE_MEMBER(coin_irq); protected: virtual void video_start() override; virtual void machine_start() override; private: TILE_GET_INFO_MEMBER(get_bg_tile_info); uint8_t mc6845_r(offs_t offset); void mc6845_w(offs_t offset, uint8_t data); void output_a_w(uint8_t data); void output_b_w(uint8_t data); void output_c_w(uint8_t data); void vram_w(offs_t offset, uint8_t data); uint8_t lpt_status_r(); void lpt_data_w(uint8_t data); void rtc_control_w(uint8_t data); MC6845_ON_UPDATE_ADDR_CHANGED(crtc_addr); MC6845_UPDATE_ROW(update_row); void amusco_palette(palette_device &palette) const; void mem_map(address_map &map); void io_map(address_map &map); std::unique_ptr m_videoram; tilemap_t *m_bg_tilemap; required_device m_maincpu; required_device m_gfxdecode; required_device m_pit; required_device m_pic; required_device m_rtc; required_device m_crtc; required_device m_screen; required_device m_hopper; output_finder<8> m_lamps; uint8_t m_mc6845_address; uint16_t m_video_update_address; bool m_blink_state; static constexpr uint32_t videoram_size = 0x10000; }; /************************* * Video Hardware * *************************/ TILE_GET_INFO_MEMBER(amusco_state::get_bg_tile_info) { /* - bits - 7654 3210 ---- ---- bank select. ---- ---- color code. ---- ---- seems unused. */ int code = m_videoram[tile_index * 2] | (m_videoram[tile_index * 2 + 1] << 8); int color = (code & 0x7000) >> 12; if (BIT(code, 15) && !m_blink_state) code = 0; tileinfo.set( 0 /* bank */, code & 0x3ff, color, 0 ); } void amusco_state::video_start() { m_bg_tilemap = &machine().tilemap().create(*m_gfxdecode, tilemap_get_info_delegate(*this, FUNC(amusco_state::get_bg_tile_info)), TILEMAP_SCAN_ROWS, 8, 10, 74, 24); m_blink_state = false; m_videoram = std::make_unique(videoram_size); std::fill_n(m_videoram.get(), videoram_size, 0); save_pointer(NAME(m_videoram), videoram_size); } void amusco_state::machine_start() { m_lamps.resolve(); } /************************* * Memory Map Information * *************************/ void amusco_state::mem_map(address_map &map) { map(0x00000, 0x0ffff).ram(); map(0xf8000, 0xfffff).rom().region("maincpu", 0); } uint8_t amusco_state::mc6845_r(offs_t offset) { if(offset & 1) return m_crtc->register_r(); return m_crtc->status_r(); // not a plain 6845, requests update bit here ... } void amusco_state::mc6845_w(offs_t offset, uint8_t data) { if(offset & 1) { m_crtc->register_w(data); if(m_mc6845_address == 0x12) m_video_update_address = ((data & 0xff) << 8) | (m_video_update_address & 0x00ff); if(m_mc6845_address == 0x13) m_video_update_address = ((data & 0xff) << 0) | (m_video_update_address & 0xff00); } else { m_crtc->address_w(data); m_mc6845_address = data; } } void amusco_state::output_a_w(uint8_t data) { /* Lamps from port A 7654 3210 ---- ---x Bet lamp. ---- --x- Hold/Discard 5 lamp. ---- -x-- Hold/Discard 3 lamp. ---- x--- Hold/Discard 1 lamp. ---x ---- Hold/Discard 2 lamp. --x- ---- Hold/Discard 4 lamp. xx-- ---- Unknown. */ for (int i = 0; i < 6; i++) m_lamps[i] = BIT(data, i); // logerror("Writing %02Xh to PPI output A\n", data); } void amusco_state::output_b_w(uint8_t data) { /* Lamps and counters from port B 7654 3210 ---- --x- Unknown lamp (lits when all holds/disc are ON.
